"Without Freedom of Thought, there can be no such Thing as Wisdom;
and no such Thing as publick Liberty, without Freedom of Speech; which
is the Right of every Man, as far as by it, he does not hurt or controul
the Right of another: And this is the only Check it ought to suffer,
and the only Bounds it ought to know.
This sacred Privilege is so
essential to free Goverments, that the Security of Property, and the
Freedom of Speech always go together; and in those wretched Countries
where a Man cannot call his Tongue his own, he can scarce call any Thing
else his own. Whoever would overthrow the Liberty of a Nation, must
begin by subduing the Freeness of Speech; a Thing terrible to Publick
Traytors." ~ Benjamin Franklin, Silence Dogood, No. 8 Jul 9, 1722.

13 Hours by Mitchell Zuckoff with the Annex Security Team
"On the night of September 11, 2012, terrorists attacked the US State
Department Special Mission Compound and a nearby CIA station called the
Annex in Benghazi, Libya. A team of six American security operators
fought to repel the attackers and protect the Americans stationed
there. Those men - Mark "Oz" Geist, Kris "Tanto" Paronto, John "Tig"
Tiegen, Jack Silva, Dave "D.B." Benton, and Tyrone "Rone" Woods - went
beyond the call of duty, performing extraordinary acts of courage and
heroism, to avert tragedy on a much larger scale. This is their
personal account, never before told, of what happened during the
thirteen hours of that now infamous attack.
13 HOURS sets the record straight on what happened during a night
that has been shrouded in mystery and controversy. This riveting book
takes readers into the action-packed story of heroes who laid their
lives on the line for one another, for their countrymen, and for their
country." (taken from the back cover)
When I first heard about the attack that took place on September 11,
2012, I wanted to know the truth of what happened. My gut was telling me
that this attack was not a last minute protest of a youtube video...as
several news broadcasts (and one Secretary of State) had eluded to. 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi
is a must read for everyone. This book takes you directly to the
before, during and after of the siege. Mitchell Zuckoff with the Annex
Security Team gives the a reader an eye-opening, detailed account of
what truly happened September 11th and 12th of September 2012.
(disclaimer: I bought this book because I wanted to know what happened
on Sept. 11, 2012. I was not asked by the author to provide an
opinion.)

1913 by Oliver DeMille
The Year We Failed America...And How to Recover Her for GOOD.
Three critical events in 1913, followed by a corresponding event in 1936, together struck a resounding blow to America's freedom. In fact, they triggered the greatest Turning Point away from freedom in modern times.
What were these dangerous events? Why do so few American citizens know about them - especially since they dramatically and negatively impact every detail of their lives? Most importantly, how can their effects be reversed and freedom restored?
1913 answers these questions and more. This is not a doomsday book for alarmists, but rather an optimistic action guide for thoughtful, dedicated freedom-lovers. DeMille provides three clear, detailed, and practical solutions you can implement to restore America's freedom and revitalize her prosperity.
A new Turning Point of Freedom is desperately needed. And reading this book will propel you to the front lines of that shift. (Taken from the back cover of the book)
This book is very profound and eye-opening. I had my pen in my hand as I read this book and I underlined quite a bit of information. I will be using this book in our homeschool as a reference for when we learn about American History/U.S. Government/U.S. Constitution. I highly recommend this book for all to read. Everyone should know what happened back in 1913 and 1936!
(Disclaimer: I bought this book for my own personal library and my opinions are my own. The author of this book did not ask me for the above review)

Fools for Christ
"God assumed from the beginning that the wise of the world would view
Christians as fools…and He has not been disappointed. Devout Christians
are destined to be regarded as fools in modern society. We are fools for
Christ’s sake. We must pray for courage to endure the scorn of the
sophisticated world. If I have brought any message today, it is this:
Have the courage to have your wisdom regarded as stupidity. Be fools for
Christ. And have the courage to suffer the contempt of the
sophisticated world." ~ Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia (1936-2016)

Pearl Harbor Day
"We remember that our freedom, purchased at so dear a price, can be taken from us. And we resolve that that shall never be. We resolve that our strength, our vigilance, and our devotion will forever keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave. We resolve that we will keep faith with those we have loved and lost. And we resolve that, always, we will remember Pearl Harbor." ~ Ronald Reagan, National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, December 7, 1987
